GUIDO COSTAMAGNA

Professor Costamagna is Professor of Surgery and Head of the Surgical Endoscopy Unit at the University Polyclinic, A Gemelli, Universita Cattolica del S Cuore, Rome, Italy. He is a world-renowned endoscopist with special expertise in therapeutic bilio-pancreatic endoscopy and more recently in capsule endoscopy. He is the scientific director of the European Endoscopy Training Center at the University and is currently President of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy.

CHAN-SUP SHIM

Professor Shim is the Head of the Digestive Disease Center, Institute of Digestive Research, Soon Chun Hyang University, Seoul, South Korea. Professor Shim is an endoscopist for all seasons and is adept at therapeutic oesophageal, biliary and colonic work as well as endoscopic ultrasonography. He is particularly expert in the use and deployment of self-expandable stents, many of which are his own designs.

BJORN REMBACKEN

Dr Rembacken is Consultant Endoscopist at the Leeds General Infirmary, UK and Lead Clinician in Endoscopy at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, NHS Trust. Dr Rembacken is an expert in the detection and treatment of early colorectal cancers and has special expertise in endoscopic mucosal resection of early Gl cancers, an area where he has demonstrated and published widely.

KENJIRO YASUDA

Dr Yasuda is Associate Professor at Kyoto University and Consultant Endoscopist at the Second Red Cross Hospital, Kyoto, Japan. He is a world-renowned expert in endoscopic ultrasound and has been one of the pioneers instrumental in developing EUS to its present high level. He is also an expert in therapeutic pancreato-biliary endoscopy. Professor Yasuda is organizing chairman of the forthcoming 14th International Symposium on Endoscopic Ultrasound to be held in Tokyo in November 2004.
